Just when you thought “food porn” was a standard Instagram hashtag, it’s actually an annual list of the country’s most fattening eats at U.S. chain restaurants.
Among the top contenders include a Cheesecake Factory pasta dish that holds 3,120 calories, a day and a half’s worth of the suggested daily caloric intake for an adult. Reuters reports that the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a consumer-based nonprofit group that promotes healthier eating, compiles the yearly list of “food porn” to clue consumers in on the most unhealthiest dishes with “eye-popping levels of calories, saturated fat, sugar and/or sodium.”
“You’d think that the size of their profits depended on their increasing the size of your pants,” CSPI Executive Director Michael Jacobson said of the industry’s Xtreme Eating winners. The group has used the “honors” as a way to rally caloric disclosure in restaurants.
The Cheesecake Factory Bistro Shrimp Pasta, made with a butter and cream sauce and topped with battered, fried shrimp, also contains a 89 grams of saturated fat and 1,090 milligrams of sodium. CSPI said it confirmed the nutritional data with the companies on the list, released Wednesday.
Other food porn winners include Johnny Rockets’ Bacon Cheddar Double Hamburger (1,770 calories), Cheesecake Factory’s Crispy Chicken Costoletta (2,610 calories) and Chocolate Zuccotto Cake from Maggiano’s Little Italy (1,820 calories).
