Jeezy Says Therapy Couldnt Save Jeannie Mai Marriage

Jeezy and Nia Long recently held an hour-long dialogue, getting deep into each other’s outlook on life, love, and mental health. In I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget Full Conversation with Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins & Nia Long, the pair touched on various topics, including infidelity and Jeezy’s crumbling marriage to Jeannie Mai.

“There’s an expiration date on everything,” detailed Long. “You gotta know when it’s time to be done. And that’s usually not about another person [or] an affair, or some chick that’s willing to make you feel like a king because that’s why most men cheat. Most men cheat.”

“That’s fascinating to me,” responded Jeezy. He continued, “Personally, this is my quote. Real ni**as don’t cheat,” echoing his J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and B.A.M. produced track appropriately titled “Don’t Cheat.”

“It’s something in us that makes us want to be right across the board.”

The clarification comes after Nia Long’s public split from her fiancé, NBA Coach Ime Udoka, after he allegedly had an affair.

Elsewhere in the candid conversation, the “Put On” performer discussed his and Mai’s failed marriage, explaining how they went to therapy before ultimately deciding to divorce.

“I can tell you that this has not been an easy journey,” he said. “I can tell you that I’m saddened. I can tell you that I’m disappointed. I can tell you that I’m uneasy, right? But, again, God has put me on a different path, and that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself and to love myself and to be in the best situation that I can thrive as someone who’s been through all of the things that I’ve been through.”

“The real thing is, like, that I don’t like to fail at anything,” he continued, adding that he can “only be responsible for myself” and “can only do what I can do.”

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai announced their decision to end their marriage last month in a legal process initiated by the “Soul Survivor” rapper. Jeezy is seeking joint custody of their infant child Monaco, born in January 2022.

“Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart,” explained the Atlanta native in a statement. “Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves.”
