Mariah Carey Releases Butterfly-Themed Diamond Jewelry Collection With Chopard

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Mariah Carey is known for loving the finer things in life, so it’s fitting that the singer’s newest collaboration features literal diamonds. Mariah has teamed up with Chopard to launch two, limited-editing jewelry lines.

Chopard has been creating luxury jewelry since it was founded in 1860. Mariah worked side-by-side with Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele to launch the collab.

Chopard prides itself in achieving excellence in everything it does,” the brand explains on its website. “From the design to the finished product, the Maison possesses unique expertise thanks to thirty specialized crafts in the fields of watchmaking and jewelry.”

Together, Mariah and Caroline created two collections – the Chopard X Mariah Carey Collection and the Happy Butterfly X Mariah Carey Collection.

Butterflies are a common theme within the collaboration and it was an intentional choice, meant to reflect Mariah’s musical power. “A butterfly whose unpredictable flight carries the creative force of a true music queen,” the press release explains.

“These collections are a natural extension of the creative universe of a singer who has become one of the most famous voices in the world over the decades,” it continues. “A symbol of metamorphosis, the butterfly is the dazzling emblem of the energy that has borne Mariah Carey to unprecedented longevity.”

The symbol of the butterfly is also important to Chopard as a brand, “conveying renewed aspirations and a free-spirited approach to life.”

Mariah was in New York City on September 16th to celebrate the launch of the collaboration at an intimate cocktail party. Photos from the event show Mariah and Caroline posing with the stunning diamond pieces.

The collaboration features a variety of diamond-paved pieces, including a necklace, earrings, and a ring made from Fairmined-certified ethical gold.

The jewelry (which comes in gold and silver varieties) has a high price-tag to reflect its quality. The butterfly ring goes for $11,900 USD, while the necklace is $13,300. But the priciest piece in the collection are the butterfly earrings, which retail on Chopard’s website for $23,500.

As for what the collection means to her, Mariah recently told PEOPLE, “When we first started talking about partnering, 'All I Want For Christmas' was about to receive a diamond certification, so I thought they'd want to do something Christmas-y."

Mariah continued, “Then, the Chopard team stated the obvious — the butterfly. It also made sense because this year is the 25th anniversary of Butterfly, which is my most personal album.”

“It's the body of work that I'm the most proud of as an artist, a producer and a writer. So, it was just sort of kismet,” she concluded.
