One day after her 38th birthday, Raven-Symoné revealed her only sibling, Blaize Pearman, died last month after a two-year battle with colon cancer.
In an Instagram video (below), she expressed, “I thank everybody for the amazing birthday wishes yesterday. Truly I love you guys. It was a little bittersweet for me, to be honest, because last month I lost my brother, Blaize. He was battling colon cancer for about two years and he is in a better place now. He’s loved and missed, and the emotions that have been weaving in and out of my body and mind and my family have been a roller coaster.”
The That’s So Raven star added, “I love you, Blaize. His birthday is Dec. 16 and will forever be. I love you, guys. My family on Instagram, my family at home and my family and friends. You guys have been such an amazing support system and I love you all.”
Raven noted that while it was “hard to fully celebrate knowing that I’m here and he is not,” she will share more on his birthday in the coming days.
Blaize, who appeared alongside the Raven’s Home star on Celebrity Family Feud, would have been 32.
Several of her close friends and Hollywood comrades offered their condolences in the comment section of the somber post.
Singer JoJo wrote, “Raven I am so sorry for your loss. You are such a beautiful soul and I pray you and your family can find tiny moments to smile to feel some semblance of peace in this incredibly painful time. Sending love to u, ur family, and anyone who knew and loved ur beautiful brother.”
Raven’s Cheetah Girls co-stars Kiely Williams and Sabrina Bryan also reacted to the news.
“I am so sorry,” Williams typed. “There are no words that can ease this kind of pain, but I hope you can find moments of peace and comfort in the weeks and months ahead. You and your family are in my prayers.” Bryan added, “I am so sorry to hear this news Raven! You were always such an awesome big sister who loved and adored her baby brother! Sending healing prayers to you and your family during this difficult time.”
VIBE sends our deepest condolences to Raven and the Pearman family at this time.
