Jennifer Filed For Divorce, Implying Sylvester Was Irresponsible With Money
Jennifer originally filed for divorce over a year ago in August 2022. In her filing, she accused her estranged husband of “[engaging] in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets which has had an adverse economic impact on the marital estate."
As such, her divorce documents requested that "the Husband should be enjoined from, selling, transferring, assigning, encumbering, or dissipating any assets during the pendency of these proceedings."
At the time, specifics of Jennifer's allegations remained ambiguous. However, in accordance with Florida law, where the former model filed for divorce, such accusations are frequently raised in divorce proceedings when one spouse has engaged in excessive spending or borrowing.
"I'm sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone,” Jennifer said in a statement at the time. “While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters. I ask for privacy for our family as we amicably move forward."
However, Sylvester’s legal team later went on to deny the accusations. And by October, it was reported the pair had reconciled, only to requested that their divorce filing be rescinded by the court, which it was.
Sylvester Has Admitted To Being An Absentee Husband And Father
“Let's just say that it was a very tumultuous time," Sylvester told the Sunday Times while reflecting on the rocky patch in his marriage. "There was a reawakening of what was more valuable than anything, which is my love for my family. It takes precedence over my work, and that was a hard lesson to learn."
The actor also admitted to not being as present with his children and wife as he should’ve been. In addition to the three daughters he shares with Jennifer, he has three older children from his first marriage to actress Sasha Czack.
"I didn't pay enough attention when they were growing up," Sylvester explained. "I was so career-oriented, and now I go, 'OK, I don't have that much runway up ahead, and I want to start asking them about their lives.'"
As for how he connected his with daughters, Sylvester elaborated, "I ask them about their day, and they started at first a little monosyllabic. Then I heard one say, 'I was just thinking about you.' Oh, my God. I've never heard that before in my life. When a daughter knows you care, she's there forever."
