May 2024 · 2 minute read

Zendaya’s Euphoria character went through a lot during the second season, and it took a toll on the actress. But Zendaya credits her boyfriend Tom Holland for helping her navigate the show’s most difficult stoylines.

"I think it's great to have that support and love around you, because you need that," she recently told Entertainment Tonight. "This isn't an easy job, so it's good to have that to free you up from it every now and then."

Euphoria’s latest season detailed Rue’s struggle after relapsing and her attempt to stay clean.

In February, the actress shared a post dedicated to her onscreen character asking people to see Rue “as a person worthy of their love.” “I think it’s important that we have characters that are flawed,” she concluded the post. “And remember that we are not the worst mistakes we’ve ever made […] redemption is possible.”

Zendaya’s recent comments to Entertainment Tonight aren’t the first time she’s opened up about the struggles to film the show’s second season as well as the importance of her boyfriend’s support.

In January, ahead of the season’s new drop, Zendaya spoke up about Holland’s presence. “He supported me through the whole season,” she explained.

As for Holland making an appearance in Euphoria, Zendaya says it’s not out of the question. “You know, we joke about sneaking him into the background and seeing if someone can spot him,” she said. Since then, there have been rumors Holland can be spotted in the crowd during Lexi’s play towards the end of the season, though they remain unconfirmed.

Although Holland and Zendaya have been historically private about their relationship, it was reported they bought a home together in February. The pair spent a reported $4 million on a house in Holland’s hometown in the United Kingdom.

One insider told The Mirror the couple plan to invest as much as $500,000 into the property for renovations. The home currently has 6 bedrooms, a theatre, gym, and mancave.

Holland and Zendaya have played onscreen lovers in the Spider-Man franchise since 2016. Their most recent movie Spider-Man: No Way Home debuted earlier this year. Rumors circulated for years they were an item before paparazzi photos were published in July 2021 showing the actors kissing and being affectionate. A few months later, they confirmed their relationship status on social media.

Although a third season of Euphoria has been confirmed, a release date has not been revealed.
